Northwest Associated Consultants, Inc. <br />C O M M U N I T Y P L A N N I N G • D E S I G N • M A R K E T R E S E A R C H <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Little Canada Planning Commission <br />FROM: Stephen Grittman <br />DATE: September 9, 1996 <br />RE: Little Canada - Grand Slam CUP /Commercial Recreation Text <br />Amendment <br />FILE NO: 758.09 - 96.27 <br />Background <br />Di -Med Corporation, the owner of a building at 2956 Yorkton Blvd, has requested <br />consideration of a text amendment which would allow indoor batting cages and other <br />recreational facilities to be located in their building, zoned Industrial Park (I -P). <br />Concurrently, Grand Slam, an operator of such a use, is requesting a Conditional Use <br />Permit in anticipation of the amendment to the text. <br />Text Amendment <br />The City Council discussed this issue at its last regular meeting in August, and <br />recommended the text amendment process. Considerable discussion focused on the <br />current language, whether the Grand Slam concept fit the language, and whether <br />commercial recreation uses should be permitted or conditional uses in the I -P District. The <br />current language is from the B -W (Business - Warehousing) District and carries over to the <br />I -P District permitted use section.
