515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: July 19, 1996
RE: Appointment of Code Enforcement Officer
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
To streamline the code enforcement process, the City Attorney has
recommended that our code enforcement officer be granted the
authority to issue citations on behalf of the City rather than
the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department. This creates some
efficiencies in that our code enforcement officer would then be
the person called to Court (if necessary) and would have the
detailed records documenting conditions and actions taken. If
the Sheriff's deputy writes the citation, this person would not
have that first -hand knowledge of the situation and would be at a
disadvantage if called to Court. Therefore, I recommend that
Mary Granley be appointed as our code enforcement officer to
comply with the provisions of the newly adopted code enforcement
officer ordinance.
JH:kv
Page 76
