515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada. MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: July 10, 1996
RE: City Hall ID Sign
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Martian
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Attached are three options for placement of the proposed
identification sign for City Hall. Option 1 contemplates a
single -sided sign located adjacent to the flag poles. Options 2
and 3 are two -sided signs. A mock -up has been prepared for your
evaluation. I would suggest a short recess to view the options
before finalizing your decision.
Another issue has also been identified. Little Canada Road's
right -of -way extends 50 feet north of the center line instead of
the typical 33 feet. (see attached copy of section map) All of
the options proposed assume the County will transfer interest in
the excess 17 feet of property to us or give us some type of
permit for use of their right -of -way. If not, the sign would
need to move 17 feet north of any of the proposed locations to
comply with our own ordinances. Placement becomes very
impractical if this is the case.
I have initiated discussions with County officials and am hopeful
a satisfactory resolution can be found.
JRH:kpv
Enclosures
Page 87
