MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
SEPTEMBER 12, 196
ADJOURN
residential cul -de -sacs. This inconsistency between
the Code requirement and City practice was recently
discovered. The City Engineer has indicated that he is
comfortable in reducing the radius to 50 feet.
Knudsen asked if the 60 foot radius had an aesthetic
benefit.
The Planner pointed out that the right -of -way radius
would not affect the size of the blacktopped area of
the cul -de -sac, but rather the right -of -way behind the
curb. The Planner also pointed out the City has 10
foot drainage and utility easements beyond the cul -de-
sac right -of -way.
Knudsen pointed out that the decrease in right -of -way
would pull houses closer to the cul -de -sac.
The Planner agreed. Keis pointed out that the 30 foot
front yard setback is a minimum, and a house could be
placed further back if the owner do desired.
DeLonais recommended approval of an ordinance amending
Section 1006 of the City Code, known as the Subdivision
Ordinance, by establishing provisions for the location
and design of local and dead -end streets.
Motion seconded by Barraclough.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
Schletty recommended that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Keis.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
There being no further business, the meeting was
adjourned at 8:55 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Glanzer
Administrative Assistant
11
Page 98
