October 9, 1996
Joel Hanson
City of Little Canada
515 E Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
Dear Mr. Hansen:
CITY OF VADNAIS HEIGHTS
687 East County Road "F"
Vadnais Heights, Minnesota 55127 -7099
Phone (612) 429 -5343 Fax: (612) 429 -8282
The City of Vadnais Heights is interested working jointly with the City of Little Canada
to develop a park area which would extend into the City of Little Canada from Vadnais
Heights. More specifically, the City of Vadnais would be interested in an area along Twin
Lake within the boundary of Little Canada similar in area as it presently has along Twin
Lake in Vadnais Heights.
The reasons that the City of Vadnais Heights would like to extend the park area into
Little Canada are:
1) Lake shore east of the present park area would be better suited for a public dock or
fishing pier. From an environmental stand point the ground west of the planned park area
would be more suitable to develop due to better soil conditions.
2) The present configuration of the park area separates lot 8 from an easement area
provided to lot 8 for lake access. The easement area provided for lake access is in Little
Canada and lot 8 is in Vadnais Heights. It may be possible to swap property identified
as the easement for lake use for the park property in Vadnais Heights. If the land swap
took place the owner of lot 8, Mr. Pardee, would have his lake access point contiguous
to his home site in Vadnais Heights. Presently, Mr Pardee has an easement across the
park area in Vadnais Heights to his lake access site in Little Canada.
If the City of Little Canada would agree to have a portion of the park area within it's
boundary, the City of Vadnais Heights would be agreeable in forming a committee which
would allow participation from the City of Little Canada to help develop guidelines for
Page 22
Printed on recycled paper.
