Northwest Associated Consultants, Inc.
C O M M U N I T Y P L A N N I N G • D E S I G N • M A R K E T R E S E A R C H
PLANNING REPORT - ADDENDUM
TO: Little Canada Planning Commission
FROM: Bob Kirmis /Stephen Grittman
DATE: 5 August 1996
RE: Little Canada - Thorp Variance
FILE NO: 758.09 - 96.21
It has come to the attention of the City staff that the detached accessory structure for which
Mr. Richard Thorp has requested a setback variance is currently being utilized as an
unapproved lawn care service.
Such use upon the subject property raises concern in that the City prohibits the use of
accessory buildings for home occupation purposes. To date Mr. Thorp has not received
any City approvals to operate a home occupation upon his property.
In this regard, we recommend that the accessory building only be allowed to exist on the
property for the purpose of storing equipment and materials customary and incidental to
the principal residential use. In no case should the structure be allowed to exist on the
property if to be used for any home occupation activities.
pc: Kathy Glanzer
Greg Schmidt
Richard Thorp
5775 Wayzata Blvd. • Suite 555 St. Loui
Page 42
(612) 595- 9636•Fax. 595 -9837
