515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jiro LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R Hanson
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Scott Tangen, Public Works Director
DATE: September 4, 1996
RE: Parking Problems on East Rose Place & Sylvan Street
I visited these sites and found the following:
Sylvan Street - north of County Road C to Round Lake Trail
* Street width is 32 feet wide back of curb to back of
curb, with a surmountable curb.
It is currently posted "no parking anytime" on the east
side of the street. Parking is allowed on the west
side.
* Each 8 -unit townhome building has garage parking of 12
spaces and outdoor off - street parking of six spaces,
giving each 8 unit building a total of 18 off - street
parking spaces.
All residential homes on the west side have two -stall
garages with 18'± wide driveways except one house which
has converted its garage to living space.
Given the width of the street, the traffic, the layout
with the single family residential on one side and the
multiple family residential on the other, I recommend
no change to our parking regulations on Sylvan St.
East Rose Place - between Jackson Street & Lakeshore Avenue
* Bituminous street with bituminous curb on both sides.
Street width is 29 feet face of curb to face of curb.
* All houses on this section of street have double
garages with 18' wide minimum driveways except the
duplex located at 138 -140 East Rose Place. Each unit
of this duplex has a one -stall garage with a single
width driveway.
Page 32
