RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO PARTICIPATE <br />HOME SHARE PILOT PROGRAM <br />WHEREAS, the Older Adult Home -Share Task Force was established in <br />October 1984 to study the need for a home -share housing program; <br />WHEREAS, the study area included the jurisdictions of the White <br />Bear Lake, Roseville and North St. Paul - Maplewood - Oakdale school <br />districts; <br />WHEREAS, the task force membership is multijurisdictional, <br />including but not limited to, representatives of city government, <br />school districts, managers of seniors residences, senior health care <br />providers and senior counseling services from within the study area; <br />WHEREAS, in January, 1985, the Maplewood City Council authorized <br />$1297 for a needs assessment of which $1249 was expended; <br />WHEREAS, the results of the needs assessment indicate that <br />approximately 2500 older adults in the study area would be expected to <br />participate in a home -share program as an alternative to having to <br />move from their homes; <br />WHEREAS, no program currently exists that can serve the estimated <br />demand in the study area; <br />WHEREAS, a three -year pilot expansion of Lutheran Social <br />Services' Share -A -Home program would be thermost cost- effective means <br />of assessing the need for a long -term program; <br />WHEREAS, the cost of administering a program for the study area <br />from January 1, 1986 to December 31, 1986 would be $11,397.00; <br />WHEREAS, the task force is hereby requesting that each of the <br />eleven study area communities contribute to the financing of a pilot <br />home -share program for 1986, on the basis of their 1980 older adult <br />population, as follows: <br />% of Study Area's Requested <br />Community Older Adult Population Contribution <br />Falcbn Heights <br />Hugo' <br />Lauderdale <br />Little Canada <br />Maplewood <br />North St. Paul <br />Oakdale <br />Roseville <br />Vadnais Heights <br />White Bear Township <br />White Bear Lake <br />5.3 <br />1.7 <br />1.6 <br />5.0 <br />21.0 <br />8.2 <br />5.0 <br />33.6 <br />2.0 <br />2.9 <br />13.7 <br />100% <br />$ 670 <br />215 <br />202 <br />632 <br />2,656 <br />1,037 <br />632 <br />4,249 <br />253 <br />367 <br />1,733 <br />$ 12,646 <br />WHEREAS, funding for the second and third years of the pilot <br />program will be requested of the affected communities in June of 1986 <br />and in June of 1987; <br />49 <br />
