MEMORANDUM
To: Kenneth E. Weltzin
From: Marvin D. Kotilinek
Subject: Attached Letter
Date: May 9, 1985
We have reviewed the segment of Centerville Road between Little Canada Road and
Edgerton Street for the possibility of constructing shoulder widening for bicycle lane
construction although it is not included in the Ramsey County Recreational Bikeway
System Plan.
Soils in this area consist of stable granular material and no subcutting or base material
is planned with the exception of minimal common excavation in preparation for placing
34 inches of bituminous material. The average shoulder widening is approximately 7
feet with some fill material required on the east side of the roadway. There is one
centerline culvert that must be extended in this area.
The existing 36 foot wide curbed section of Centerville Road between Little Canada
Road and LaBore Road would remain as is and included with the overlay of the existing
surface.
Total cost of this proposed project including labor, machinery and materials is estimated
at approximately $66,000 for the 1.25 mile of roadway. If full state standards were
applied to the design 'the cost would increase approximately $30,000.
MDK:m
7-4 -S6 6 o u
13 clog »a`..
2 V'
OVe •/G.J- o f lh
