The Administrator
2489 & 2481 recommended that action be delayed on awarding the low quote as
McMENEMY there is another option that he would like to explore first. This matter
ROAD will be brought back to the Council at its next meeting.
WATER The Public Works Superintendent reported that the City has budgeted
TOWER for the repainting of the water tower for a couple of years. The paint
INSPECTION condition appears good; however, the Superintendent recommended that
the inside of the water tower be inspected to ensure that the coating
condition is as good inside as it is outside.
The Superintendent reviewed his report dated April 7, 2006 comparing
quotes for this inspection, and recommended the quote of KLM
Engineering be awarded in the amount of $2,800. The Superintendent
noted that KLM Engineering will use sterilized remote-controlled video
equipment to perform the inspection, so there will be no need to empty the
tower. KLM Engineering also conducted the last water tower inspection
in 1999, therefore, if very familiar with Little Canada's tower. Other
quotes were slightly lower; however, the Superintendent noted that these
vendors would be using rafts and7or divers and it was the Superintendent's
position that the procedures used by KLM would be superior Yo those used
by the other vendors.
10
