MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />APRIL 26, 2006 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City <br />Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 26`x' day of <br />April, 2006 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said Ciry. <br />Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the <br />following members of the City Counci] were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. Bill Blesener <br />Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Council Member Mr. Rick Montour <br />Council Member Ms. Barb Allan <br />Council Member Mr. John Keis <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel R. Hanson <br />Parks & Rec. Dir. Mr. Jim Morelan <br />Public Works Dir. Mr. Bill Dircks <br />Planning Comm. Mr. Tom Duray <br />Planning Comm. Ms. Katie Socha <br />Parks & Rea Comm. Mr. Tony Mans <br />City Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer <br />2006 Messes. Bill Morris and Peter Leatherdale, Decision Resources, <br />COMMUNITY were present this evening to present the Executive Summary of the <br />SURVEY City's 2006 Community Survey. Morris reported that Che survey findings <br />are based on a telephone survey of 400 randomly selected residents, and <br />that the results are accurate within a plus or minus 5%o in 95 out of 100 <br />cases. He then briefly summarized the demographics of the typical adult <br />Little Canada resident based on survey results. <br />Morris reported that the survey shows a very solid quality of life rating by <br />residents. These residents place a high value on the City's parks and <br />recreation facilities and City services in general. There is either no or <br />minimal concern with City services keeping up with growth. Residents <br />rate the redevelopment at Rice Stree[ and Little Canada Road as good and <br />want to see that redevelopment effort continued. There is some concern <br />about public safety and crime, but these concerns are not as high as in <br />cities closer to St. Paul and Minneapolis. Taxes are an issue for residents, <br />but are not a major issue. Morris reported that the survey findings result <br />in a fairly positive report for the City. <br />Morris stated that he did not compare the results of the 2006 survey to <br />those of the 1995 survey because 46% of residents have moved to Little <br />
