REPLY TO
ATTENTION OF:
Construction - Operations
Regulatory Functions (85- 2185N -76)
DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY
ST PAUL DISTRICT, CORPS OF ENGINEERS
1135 U S. POST OFF/CE & CUSTOM HOUSE
ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA 55101-1479
October 15, 1985
Jonathan L. Faraci, P.E.
Milner W. Carley and Associates, Inc.
500 W. Highway 96
St. Paul, Minnesota 55112
Dear Mr. Faraci:
OCT 17 1995
CITY OF
LITTLE CANADA
This letter is in response to your August 16, 1985 letter regarding the
proposed site plan for a baseball field in the city of Little Canada,
Minnesota.
The proposed project would involve the placement of fill in a wetland
area, which constitutes 45 percent of the proposed 19.53 acre site, including
Gervais Creek. This activity falls within the jurisdiction of the Corps of
Engineers, as it involves discharge of fill material in waters /wetlands of the
United States.
We have determined that the project is eligible for authorization under
an existing nationwide permit, 330.5 (a)(26)(i), provided the work is done in
compliance with the management practices described in the enclosure. I would
authorize your project within the scope of the nationwide permit if you comply
with the following conditions described in the next paragraph.
You are required to create a pond /wetland area of approximately 1.1 acres
in the location shown on the enclosed map. Specifications for the pond are
as follows:
- Side slopes of 4 :1 to 5:1
- Irregular bottom elevation
- Convoluted shoreline as shown on neap
- Depth to be 2 to 4 feet
All slope% shall be seeded with suitable wetland vegetation: i.e.,
cattail, bullrush, etc. Reed canary grass will not be acceptable.
Should you require assistance in designing the pond area, a site
inspection can be arranged. Please contact Leesa Beal at (612) 725 -7557 or
Jerry Smith, at 725 -7795 for further information.
