MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 26, 200(
STORM The City Administrator noted that at the last Council meeting, the City
SEWER Engineer presented costs for installation of a storm sewer culvert in the
CULVERT - area of 2489 McMenemy Street to address arun-off problem with water
2489 from McMenemy Street running off the street and impacting to private
McMENEMY properties. Since the lasC meeting, the City Engineer obtained additional
STREET pricing which shortens the directional boring that would be necessary. As
a result, the new pricing is $5,800.00 versus a low price of $9,257.50.
The City Administrator reported that the impacted property owners are in
favor of this improvement and will grant the City construction and
drainage easements at no cost.
Ms. Allan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2006-4-704 -APPROVING THE QUOTE OF
MINNCOMM IN THE AMOUNT OP $5,800 FOR INSTALLATION
OF STORM SEWER CULVERT IN THE AREA OF 2489 AND 2481
McMENEMY STREET AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY
ENGINIsER IN HIS REPORT DATED APRII.2I, 2005
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
SEWER The City Adminisd~ator reviewed the Public Works Superintendent's
CAMERA report dated April 21, 2006 recommending the purchase of a sewer
PURCHASE/ camera in the amount of $12,250.55 for use in televising its sanitary
RODDER sewer lines and storm sewer mains. In addition to identifying leaks
TRADE-IN as part of the City's inflow and infiltration efforts, the camera would also
be helpful in the jetting process. Knowing the extent of tree root growth,
partial blockages, etc. prior to jetting will help minimize problems. The
Administrator noted that as part of the camera purchase, the City would
trade in its rodder for a credit of $4,000, bring the net cosC of the camera to
$8,250.55.
Blesener pointed out the cost to the City of contracting for televising oi'
services. Blesener noted that having a sewer camera will result in a two
year pay-back for the City.
The City Administrator reported that the City has been attempting to sell
its rodder for the past three years. Therefore, the purchase of the sewer
camera and trade-in of the rodder allows the City to get some good value
for a piece of equipment it no longer uses.
12
