Little Canada Road Little Canada, MN 55117 Dear City Clerk: SEP 5 1985 CITY OF LITTLE CANADA This letter is a formal request for use of Cervais Lake, its public access and the public park where the public access is located in Little Canada. The Saint Paul Winter Carnival Association would like to use the lake for it's snowmobling speed run event. The event which has historically been held on Lake Phalen has to be roved this year because of the ice palace that will be built at that location. The date of the event is Sunday, February 2. We would need access to the lake earlier than February 2 for snowplowing and track preparation. The actual date depends upon the weather. If there is a heavy snowfall it would be helpful to get out on the lake at'an earlier date, otherwise Monday January 27 would give us adequate time. This situation would be monitored and you would be kept informed. We will definitely need the lake all day Saturday, February 1 for setup and Sunday, February 2 to run the event. The event consists of snowmobiles racing down a quarter mile track against the clock. There are different classes and we expect 100 -150 snowmobiles. We would be responsible for all security of our track and equip- ment. The Ramsey County Iakes and Trails will be taking care of this. The sheriffs will patrol the lake on snowmobiles. Equip- ment would be left on the lake overnight on Saturday, February 1. We will provide the security for this. We would clean up the lake on Monday, February 3. Our insurane policy includes $1,000,000 primary insurance for the event, along with $1,000,000 umbrella policy of the Carnival's.
