Creighton, Legal Counsel DATE: September 16, 1985 RE: Commission Recommendation on Group W Proposed Rate Increase in Basic Service Rates VCLAZOUEZ, 21 M40610 1, SPAIN .31 -31 -00 TELEX 23343 At the regular meeting of the North Suburban Cable Commission on September 5, 1985, Group W requested Commission approval for a proposed rate increase. Specifically, Group W proposed to increase Basic Service rates from $7.95 to $9.95, aerial installation rates from $19.95 to $29.95, and under- ground installation rates from $19.95 to $39.95. Group W subsequently withdrew its request with regard to the installation rates and requested only the $2.00 Basic Service rate increase. The Franchise Ordinances in effect for the 10- member cities on the Commission provide a passive rate review procedure for a change in Basic Service rates. In Article VI, Section 4.D, the Ordinance requires Group W to give the city and the Commission written notice, supported by statistical proof, of any proposed rate increase at least ninety (90) days prior to the proposed effective date of the increase. Each rate increase is automatically approved by the cities unless expressly disapproved by resolution of the City Council within the ninety (90) days after receiving the notice from Group W.
