Commissioner Hunt
November 27, 1985
Page Five
it appears possible one full -time judge might still
not be enough to handle the workload in this suburb.
2) North St. Paul - This facility is actually in the pro-
cess of being remodeled. Our old office has already
been demolished, and our new one is under construc-
tion. Unfortunately, it is possible the new facil-
ity may not prove to be satisfactory. We have tried
to protect the Court's concerns and needs, but from
the beginning the city administration has been unco-
operative at best, and the facility that is currently
emerging appears to have some drastic flaws, from our
perspective.
3) Maplewood - This facility presents our most pressing
problem. The city is constructing a new building,
without space for the Court, and occupancy is sche-
duled for July 7, 1986. They have already informed
us that we should probably plan on vacating our cur-
rent location by the first of July. We are working
with the County Property Management Director, Mr. Paul
Thone, to examine our options in this regard.
The foregoing represents a brief encapsulation of the situation
to date. It would still appear that the most practical and
effective solution would be a single suburban service center,
with space for at least three (possibly four) judges, cleri-
cal support personnel, and - ideally - other county functions.
Should you wish further input, or have questions or concerns
over any of the preceeding data, please feel free to contact
either me, Mr. Bushinski or Mr. Archer.
Than you for your consideration in this matters.
iam J. em ng
Judge of Ramsey County Municipal Court
WJF /deo
cc: Hon.
