PRAIRIE
FIRE,
INC.
CON.
ONTRACTORS FOR ALL TYPES OF FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS
433 E. LITTLE CANADA ROAD • SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA 55117 • (612) 484 -5903
February 26, 1986
City of Little Canada
555 East Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minnesota 55117
Attn: City Council
Subject: Motorized Vehicles
Off Road Type
- Snowmobiles
- 2,3,4, Wheelers
Dear Council Members:
FEB 27 1986
CITY OF
LITTLE CANADA
For fourteen months I've had the opportunity to observe the willfull
disregard of our city ordinance against off road vehicles in the
waterworks and Spooner Park vicinity.
My office is in the old Little Canada school and faces the park and
water works. I can both hear them and see them. My hours and days
are irregular, so I am aware of what goes on at other than regular
working hours.
I've personally stopped some of them and questioned their purpose.
I'm amazed at their ignorance and attitude. Most of them seem to
feel that they are free to do as they please and that it was none of
my business.
I believe that there are both state and city laws that restrict off
road vehicles to ONLY the following areas.
- any frozen public lake surface.
- any private property with owner permission.
- any designated and marked trail "snowmobile only ".
Its about time that you acknowledge the problem and do something. I
recognize it's tough to enforce laws when the means of escape are so
easy. It appears to me that a renewed stronger program of enforcement
is in order. I suggest that you give the following ideas some con-
sideration and then act.
1. Post more signs in and around the park perimeters. They are cheaper
than damage repairs.
21
