Office of: •
JOSEPH G. CHLEB ECK, Clerk
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minn. 55117
484-2177
April 3, 1986
To:
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
Tayor A:ike Pahey
Councilraembers:
Eev Scalze
Bill Blesener
Fick Collova
Mugs Nardini
City Clerk:
Joe Chlebeck
From: Tom Iiorwath
City Tree Inspector
MAYOR
Michael Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Mugs Nero linl
Cr. April 2, I received three quotes from Tree Removal companies interested
in being hired for this years tree removals on public and private property in
the city. The lowest quote again this year is Precision Landscaping Co. from
Little Canada. They were lower than Langer's Tree service by only ,4150.00, when
all per -inch prices were added up. However, upon closer inspection of their
bids, Precision's prices for the average sized trees removed was considerably
less than Langer's. Langer's had lower prices for the larger trees of which
only a few are removed each year.
Based on these quotes, and upon Precision's excellent past performance
for the city in the last five years, I again hope you award this contract
to Precision.
I have been recently hired to work with the Diseased Shade Tree program
in Maplewood. They have again elected to enforce Nn. statutes and their own
city codes governing the removal of diseased trees both on public and private
property. This year I will also be working for the cities of Bellwood, Iahto-
medi and Oakdale in the same capacity. I would like to thank the members of the
council for their continued interest and support for this program. Past experience
has shown, here in the Metro area and elsewhere, that continued sanitation prac-
tices is still the best way to combat Dutch Elm disease and Oak Wilt. In cities
that have interrupted these practices, the instances of diseased trees in their
cities grew fast.
I would like to also request a raise in my hourly rate to ;11.00 this year.
It will surely help to pay for some added expences this year.
Thank you very much for your time and attention.
Sicerely,
Q
