OF Mr'
Minnesota Department of Transportation
May 14, 1986
Mr. Joseph Chlebeck
City Clerk
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road
St. Paul, Minnesota 55117
In Reply Refer To:
S.P. 6214 -64 (T.H. 49)
On Rice Street between South
Owasso Boulevard and Jerrold Avenue
Dear Mr. Chlebeck:
Phone 297-1870
Room 715N
A contract is scheduled to be let on or after July 25, 1986 for
construction on Trunk Highway 49 from South Owasso Boulevard to
Jerrold Avenue. This highway construction project is referenced S.P.
6214 -64.
We met with Roger Glanzer, Superintendent of Public Works, and Ewald
Seise of your engineering staff. They each have a copy of the
proposed plan.
The 12 inch water main on the east side of T.H. 49 requires extensive
relocation.
It is the purpose of this letter to ask the City if they wish the
relocation work to be included in the State's plan, to be built by the
State's Contractor. If that is the City's wish, we would appreciate a
resolution from the City Council.
In accord with State law, the State will pay for the relocation of the
main which is now on land where you have an easement. The State
cannot pay for relocation where you are on private property outside of
your easement, or on railroad property by permit or license.
The details of possible relocation alignment, and the City's cost
participation are being addressed.
Please place this item on your Council adgenda.
If you have any questions, call me at 297 -1870. pii-gxEvixA
Sincerely,
01 le(
L.
