PAUL, 55101
Joseph Chlebeck, City Clerk
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
RE: West Wind Residential Development
Dear Mr. Chlebeck:
On September 16, 1977 you spoke with Nancy Salustro, a staff member of
the Environmental Quality Board (EQB) concerning a project called West
Winds Residential Development. We understand that the project con-
sists of 67 houses, publically sewered, none of which is within a shore -
land or wetland area This project does not meet a mandatory category
requiring the preparation of an environmental assessment worksheet (EAW);
however, the Responsible Agency, Little Canada, does have the option
of submitting an EAW on any action to determine if the action is a major
one with the potential for significant environmental effects.
The EAW is the preliminary environmental document in the Environmental
Review Process. The EAW provides environmental information for review
so that adverse impacts to the environment can be determined and mini-
mized. The following briefly outlines the reivew process for environ-
mental' documents.
If the City decides to prepare an EAW, copies of the completed
EAW on the above project should ha distributed in accordance
with the enclosed list. An affadavit of mailing should be
attached to the copy of the EAW that is sent to Mary Sullivan,
EQB administrator.
Upon receipt of the EAW and affadavit of mailing by Ms. Sullivan,
the conclusions of the Responsible Agency, that is a Negative
Declaration or Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) preparation
notice, will be published in the EQB Monitor. This usually takes
1 -111 weeks. Following publication, there is a 30-day review
period of the decision. If no objections to the decision are
made, the decision stands. If objections are filed, the
EQB will review the matter and determine whether or not an
EIS is required
0015
AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER"
,UP7:q
SEP 21 1977
CITY Or
JJTTLE CANP9DA
