Page 2
Mr. Mark Achen
City of Moundsview (continued)
3) School Districts Participation - The Board of
Directors has agreed to pursue Moundsview and
Roseville School Districts as participants in
Bureau funding. We are working toward their
participation the fiscal period of July 1, 1978
to June 30, 1979. So far, we have met with
the Roseville Board of Education and we plan
to meet with the Moundsview Board in September.
4) County Participation - The County Board appointed
a study committee to review Youth Service Bureaus.
That committee recommended that the County provide
partial funding of Youth Service Bureaus. The
Community Services Bureau Sub - Committee of the
County Board voted to recommend the funding of
Youth Service Bureaus with $20,000 ear - marked
for Northwest Suburban Youth Service Bureau.
However, the county Board has tabled the issue
of county funding and its future remains unclear.
The Bureau has requested $16,620 in County funds
for 1978 and is recommending that the County con-
tribute financially to Youth Service Bureaus on a
per capita basis, for up to 40% of our funding for
subsequent years. At this time, the County's
participation in Bureaus funding for 1978 remains
uncertain, although we remain hopeful the County
will provide the $16,620 requested. It also seems
clear that any decision to provide funds for 1978
does not mean a commitment on the part of the
County to provide funding for subsequent years.
Hopefully this letter has helped to clarify some of the
concerns set forth in your letter of August 17, 1977. If there
is any further clarification or additional information needed,
please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanks for your consideration.
Chris Clauson
Director
0020
