MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 11, 2006 <br />*CALLING FOR AN INFORMATIONAL UPDATE WORKSHOP FOR <br />FEBRUARY 22, 2006 AT 6:00 P.M.; <br />*AWARDING THE BID FOR THE MARKET PLACE POND WELL; <br />*APPROYAL OF SALARY SCALE ADJUSTMENT <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Allan. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />COMMUNITY The Council reviewed the Community Survey Draft and some suggestions <br />SURVEY for changes were made. Suggested changes include the need for more <br />DRAFT explanation in the introduction to question 68, the need for an open-ended <br />question following questions 93, 94, and 95, amending question 126 to <br />determine if property owners are willing to pay a fee for the convenience <br />of making payments via credit cards or if the associated fees should be <br />picked up through general taxation, and more explanation in question 130. <br />The Council also agreed that a question should be added to determine the <br />importance of continuing Community Pride Awards. Additionally, there <br />were some minor typographical errors pointed out. <br />The City Administrator indicated that he would forward these changes to <br />Decision Resources. He also noted that Decision Resources will be testing <br />the survey shortly and it is likely that survey work will be completed by <br />March or April. <br />CONTRACT The City Administrator reviewed his report dated January 6, 2006 relative <br />WITH MN to the renewal of the contract between the Department of Corrections and <br />DEPARTMENT the City for the Institution Community Work Crew on a two-day per week <br />OF basis at a cost of $18,750 per day, or $37,500. The Administrator <br />CORRECTIONS reviewed some of the many projects that the City has gotten done with the <br />prison work crew and the substantial cost savings as a result of utilizing <br />this program. <br />Keis asked about the fact that the work crew can vary in size from six to <br />ten inmates. The City Administrator reported that the size of the work <br />crew depends on availability. He also noted that a crew of six appears to <br />be ideal, and ten crew members, at times, can be too many. He noted that <br />the crew is supervised aC all times by a crew leader who is an employee of <br />the Department of Corrections. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO.2006-I-12 -APPROVING THE CONTRACT <br />BETWEEN THE CITYAND MN DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS <br />
