300 Metro Square Building, 7th Street and Robert Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55101 Area 612, 291 -6359 February 22, 1977 TO: Metropolitan Area Citizens and Government Officials Attached is a draft of the proposed Application, Award and Disbursement Guide- lines for the Administration of Planning Assistance Grants prescribed in the Metropolitan Land Planning Act. A public meeting on these Guidelines has been scheduled for Thursday, March 17, 1977, at 3:00 p.m. in the Metropolitan Council Chambers, 300 Metro Square Building, 7th and Robert Streets, St. Paul, Minnesota 55101. The Guidelines establish the criteria and administrative procedures for the disbursement of $1.1 million in grant funds, appropriated by the Legislature to assist local governments in the Metropolitan Area to develop comprehensive plans as specified by the Metropolitan Land Planning Act. The Council is directed by the Act to adopt uniform procedures for the award and disbursement of grants. The draft has been prepared by the Land Use Advisory Committee and approved by the Physical Development Committee for discussion.. A list of the allocations to communities and counties which would result from the adoption of these Guide- lines is also attached. All interested persons are invited to participate in the meeting. We expect that many people may wish to comment on the proposed Guidelines, and therefore encourage you to call the Council at 291 -6482 and let us know in advance it you wish to speak. Those who register first will be scheduled to speak first. Witten comments may also be submitted prior to the meeting or until March 31. Additional copies of the proposed Guidelines are available free of charge from the Council's Public Information Office at 291 -6464.
