MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 25, 2006
The City Administrator suggested that while it may not be feasible to
accepC credit cards for building permits given the size of those fees;
however, dog license fees may be another option.
The Director recommended that the City start off with accepting credit
card payments for parks and recreation fees while further studying the
feasibility of accepting other fees: Again, the next likely option would be
dog licenses. Once the utility billing software conversation is completed,
utility payments will be able to be accepted by automatic debit.
The consensus of the Council was to accept staff's recommendation
relative to accepting credit card payments for parks and recreation fees,
building the transaction fees into the total cost. Staff will continue to
study the feasibility of other license and permit fees, such as dog licenses.
The Council agreed that accepting credit card payments for building
permits was not feasible given the size of the transaction fee associated
with those large dollar items. Council also agreed that automatic debit
payments for utility bill payments should be implemented as part of the
software conversion.
The City Administrator indicated that staff will research various vendors
for a credit card payment program, and will bring back a recommendation
to the Council.
There being no further business, the workshop meeting was adjourned at
7:05 p.m.
(/
r-.c.~..
William Blesenei;' ayor
s' ~
Attest: ,; .< .~ .. /~_..._._.._______ ~~...y--
Joe anson, City Administrator
