POLICY <br />FOR LIGHTING <br />COUNTY ROADWAYS <br />Purpose <br />The purpose of this policy is to establish the guidelines for county <br />cost participation and maintenance responsibilities pertaining to all <br />road lighting on county roadways. This guideline pertains to all exist- <br />ing and future locations. <br />Explanation <br />To clearly define the cost participation and maintenance responsibilities <br />between the county and any public authority or agency having jurisdiction <br />over entering roadways to the county road system, these responsibilities <br />must be established in advance of the installation. <br />Definitions <br />State - Minnesota Department of Transportation <br />County - Ramsey County, acting by . and through its Board of Commissioners <br />City - Municipal corporation, acting by and through its council <br />Standard Procedures <br />Where sufficient warrant exists (as determined by the County Engineer) for <br />the installation of road lighting, the county will normally furnish the <br />construction costs, engineering and inspection costs, and energy costs only <br />at the following locations: <br />A. Signal Lighting <br />1. County road or county state aid highway and state highway <br />2. County road or county state aid highway and county road <br />or county state aid highway <br />B. Road Lighting <br />1. County road and railroad crossing <br />2. Narrow bridge over or under the county road <br />3. Adverse curve <br />4. County state aid highway /state highway intersection <br />5. County state aid highway /county state aid highway intersection <br />6. County state aid highway /county road intersection <br />7.
