PAUL, MINNESOTA 55155
3347
July 6, 1975
Sayor denald valente
6156 LeBere 'Road
Little denada, 2eN 55117
Dear Mayor Valente:
A recent inspection of your City shows a number of diseased
ei m. trees within Lae boueearies of your specified disease control
area While many of the trees were amrked indicating that your
survey program has begun, a large number were unmarked.
The Oepartment realises that the disease incidence is far gre.cter
to Cate than it was laet year and that many communities are op-
erating on limited resources. Because of the seriousness of the
problem, however, we strongly urge you to allocete additional
personnel ewe resources to improve the effectivedees of your
program.
heny communities in the metropolitan Area are spending large
mounts of tax dollar to control Dutch elm disease and are im-
plementing effective control measures. The Department cannot
allow these programs to be jeopardized by inadequate control pro-
grmas in adjacent communities. We need everyone's help and coop-
eration if we hope to hold down tree losses this year.
Your city will be inspected again within the coming weeks. We
hope that at that time we will find that you have completed a
thorough survey of your disease control area and are in the pro-
cess of removing diseased trees that have been marked for removal.
If you have questions, please give us a call.
dincerelys
Peterrills, Administrator
Shade Thee Disease Control ?rogram
3ivision of 'tent Industry
•err) ;:ereath, D,Det Inseceer
City Ccuacil
JIJI S 1976
L6•'!"
