May 28, 1979
City of Little Canada
5515 Little Canada Rd.
St. Paul, MN 55117
Clerks Office
Dear Town Clerk:
I am the resident at 2944 Greenbrier St. I am seeking permission to
appear before the next Town Council meeting.
I ask to appear before the Council for the purpose of obtaining a four -
foot variance for the building of a 22x 22 attached garage. I bought
the property in November of 1978. The past winter was a constant battle
without a garage. I would like to attach a garage for the following
reasons:
1. Appearance - The majority of the homes on Greenbrier
Street have attached garages. If I attach a garage,
there would be a neat and uniform affect. If granted,
the variance, there would be six feet to the end of the
property line. In an effort to protect the owner's
privacy on the south side, I will replace any shade trees
on my property.
2. Value- Houses with attached garages are more value -
able. The value is benefited by the owner and by the
people of the community. Nearly all new homes built
today have attached garages. Mine is an exception.
3. Park -like appearance of back yards - The east side of
Greenbrier Street is a pleasant suprise compared to the
shallow lots found elsewhere. The lots are deep, (all
over 200 ft.) wooded, and private. There are no
garages in the back yard at the present time. If I was
to place a garage in the middle of the backyard, I feel
it would detract from not only my yard, but from the
park -'like property of my neighbors.
I hope I have briefly pointed out the reasons for a variance. If there
is any information you need, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Patrick E. Condon — 2944 Greenbrier
y L •
0 3
