REGION V <br />DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT <br />FEDERAL INSURANCE ADMINISTRATION <br />1 NORTH DEARBORN STREET <br />CHICAGO, ILLINOIS 60602 <br />June 1, 1979 <br />Mr. Raymond Hanson, Mayor <br />Attn: Joseph Chlebeck, City Clerk <br />City Hall <br />515 Little Canada Rd. <br />Little Canada, Minnesota 55117 <br />IN REPLY REFER TD: <br />52 :LB* <br />Dear Mr. Hanson: <br />The Federal Insurance & Hazard Mitigation Office of <br />the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will <br />.,,2e conducting a Flood Insurance Study for your community. <br />This study, funded by FENA, will be an engineering <br />analysis of floodplain areas using hydraulic and hydrologic <br />methods to determine the extent of flood hazard. <br />in this regard, a Time and Cost Meeting will be held <br />for Little Canada, Minnesota, on June 20, 1979, at <br />1:30 p.m., in the Mounds View City Hall, 2401 Hwy. #10, <br />Mounds View, MN., to establish the parameters of the <br />study effort, <br />During the meeting specific questions will be raised <br />concerning the nature and extent of your community's <br />flood problems, the location of developed and developing <br />areas within your jurisdiction, and the availability <br />of certain types of engineering data such as bench <br />marks, and sewer studies, building permits, water and <br />sewer expansions, and recent subdivision plats, it <br />is, therefore, quite important that officials who are <br />knowledgeable about these topics be present at the meeting. <br />Upon completion, the Flood Insurance Study will be used <br />to identify your community's flood prone areas. These <br />areas will be regulated by a flood plain ordinance adopted <br />and enforced by your community, Thus, it is necessary <br />for us to have as much detailed information as possible <br />on flooding and development trends in your community. <br />To assist us in making this study effort successful, <br />we would appreciate being supplied at the meeting with <br />three (3) copies of a current community base map and <br />any other available topographic mapping which we can <br />use to delineate study areas, <br />.. 011 <br />
