It has been reviewed and the following comments
are submitted for consideration by the Department of Natural Resources.
According to the applicant's exhibit "B ", the lots are proposed for filling to
elevation 863.6. The highest level recorded to date of Lake Gervais occurred on
July 3, 1978, of 862.37.
According to a hydrologic study done for the county by Barr Engineering
(copy attached) the expected 100 -year flood level in the future is 863.6.
Alloying one foot freeboard for safety indicates a minimum finished lot and
building elevation of 864.6, one foot higher than that proposed.
In addition, the proposed filling would eliminate about 4 acre feet of
flood storage in the Kohlman- Gervais- Keller basin, further aggravating flooding
potential. Offsetting flood storage areas in the watershed must be developed,
probably through municipal drainage plans, to compensate.
(Attach additional sheets if necessary) Dated July
RETURN TO: (print or type)
Gov't Official's name Daniel Schacht
19 79
DEPART11ENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
Division of Waters, Soils S Minerals
Regulations Unit
Centennial Building
ht.
