SI.Peul, Mn. 55102 / 221'0401
Dear Joe:
The Park Commission requests authorization from the City Council to proceed with
advertising for bids for the following work in Spooner Park:
Trails (including state grant irony) $ 25,000
Lighting for tennis courts 9,000
Benches for tennis courts 750
Trees for amphitheatre area 1,000
All of the above items to be bid are included in the 1980 budget.
In addition, the Park Commisiion has experienced some problems with vehicles entering
the park area after closing time by crossing lawn area. In order to prohibit
unauthorized use of the park and damage to park property, the Park Commission has
agreed. that construction of a fence/barrier to prevent access from Eli Road should
be a high priority item. The Park Commission proposes to utilize the budgeted item
for parking lot surfacing to fund this project. This may require that the parking
area surfacing be delayed for future funding. The Park Commission requests approval
of this change and authorization to receive bids for the fence/barrier at an esti-
mated cost of $5,000. The Park Commission is coordinating this improvement with
the School Board.
The Park Commission would appreciate having this item on the next City Council
agenda for their approval. Please call me if there are any questions.
Sincerely, q
ly
FAO j
V11W✓" 1
William D. Sanders
Landscape Architect
WDS /smf
52
