CITY OF WOODBURY <br />JOB DESCRIPTION & CLASSIFICATION <br />DEPARTMENT: Community Development SUPERVISOR: Director of Community <br />Development <br />JOB TITLE: Chief Building Official <br />GENERAL DUTIES: Responsible for administrative building inspection <br />work as well as coordinating the activities of the <br />building inspection program and directing the building <br />inspection function for the city. Inspects all <br />construction which requires a building permit, enforces <br />state building_coda and_yari.ous_ city ordinances relating <br />to zoning and occupancy, reviews building plans and <br />coordinates the inspections of heating and plumbing <br />and electrical. Assists -4hc city assessor in - obtaining <br />information f^r determining-valuations-for new - construction. <br />SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Comprehensive knowledge of principals, <br />practices, methods, techniques and tools used in <br />building construction inspection work. Comprehensive <br />knowledge of relevant codes, laws, rules and regulations, <br />ability to plan and direct all building inspection <br />activities for the city, ability to establish and <br />maintain effective working relations with others, <br />a basic knowledge of assessing procedures relative <br />to obtaining information <br />for valuation of new residential housing units. <br />Performs other related work as required. <br />DETAIL OF DUTIES: Community Development Department - Coordinates /444 <br />inspections, conducts inspections which require a <br />building permit, enforces state building code, reviews <br />building plans and issues building permits, issues <br />occupancy permits, maintains building permit file, <br />enforces zoning set back requirements. Also responsible <br />tor assigning building addresses, -- <br />and maintaining accurate <br />records and reports. <br />Assessing - Assists in the valuation of new residential <br />parcels by providing structural dimensions and building <br />permit valuations for each parcel. Coordinate these <br />activities and establish a system for gathering the <br />appropriate information for all new residential structures. <br />TRAINING & EDUCATION: A combination of training and experience substantial': <br />equivalent to graduation from high school or vocational <br />school supplemented by three to five years of progressively <br />responsible work in construction and building trades, <br />including considerable experience in building inspection. <br />Demonstrated ability to work with people. <br />
