MINUTES <br />CITY C®UNCIL <br />DECEMBER 4, 2006 <br />The Administrator also commenced on the MinnesoCa Miracle and pointed <br />out that the State figured out in the late 1980's that if cities spent more, <br />they received more in state aids. The Administrator noted that as part of <br />the State's budget crisis, Che State took approximately $100,000 in limited <br />market value dollars from Little Canada taxpayers to help balance their <br />budget. Little Canada would like those funds restored as well as <br />additional State aid dollars in light of the projected budget surplus. The <br />Administrator agreed that the Little Canada City Council has done its best <br />in controlling spending. He also noted that Little Canada has experienced <br />some real inequities in the area of state aids. <br />Keis indicated that Ramsey County cities are aware that they must band <br />together. He felt cities should be allowed to control their own spending <br />and that the State should not balance its budget on the backs of cities. <br />Keis fe1C Chat cities and property owners needed to Calk Co their legislators. <br />Blesener agreed that if the State does not handle its projected budget <br />surplus properly, there will be resulting problems. The CiCy Administrator <br />noted that this is a very complicated issue and pointed out Che competing <br />interests of cities.
