MAYOR
Bill Blesener
COUNCIL
Rick Montour
John Keis
Michael McGraw
Shelly Boss
515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(651) 766 -4029 / PAX: (651) 766 -4048 ADMINISTRATOR
www.ci.little- canada.mn.us Joel R. Hanson
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council
FROM: Sharon Provos, Finance Director
DATE: April 23, 2013
RE: Budget Amendment
Last week, Terre (IT) met with Don and Steve at the Fire Station to review the cabling
situation. The fire station has only 3 computer jacks installed within the walls, with the
cables running across the ceiling tiles to reach the office. The majority of the cable is
only phone wire that cannot support data (Ethernet).
In order to deploy IP telephony and Wi -Fi in the building we need to actually start from
square one to create a data closet similar the one at City Hall.
Attached is the quote Terre received for $2,905 to add data cabling in the offices, training
room and meeting areas as well as provide a line extension for the new fax so that they
can fax and scan. This does not include any network equipment. It only gets the building
updated to support network devices (including IP phones) throughout the building. And
if /when we extend fiber to the building we have a point where we can connect.
The current 2013 General Capital Improvements Budget and the amended budget are
attached.
Staff recommends amending the 2013 Budget as presented.
1
