2013 GOAL REVIEW WORKSHOP Eighteen participants took part in this year's goal setting session. 2002 through 2012 goals were reviewed, with those present agreeing that several goals should be carried forward. Participants then offered their suggestions for additional goals that the City should accomplish during the year 2013 and beyond. Each person ranked their top five goals from the list of 19 possible goals generated at this workshop. (Jeff Heikke had to leave early and did not vote.) The rankings assigned 5 points for the top goal priority, 4 points for the second, 3 for the third, etc. Tabulations were done based upon the total points received for each goal. Tabulations were broken down by elected officials, non- elected officials, and a total for all participants. In reviewing previous years' Goals (2002 through 2012), it was noted that during this time period the City accomplished 58 goals. The completed goals are attached for review. The consensus was that 15 goals will be carried forward for completion and these are as follows: •: Fire Department Long -Term Strategic Plan (In process) 9 Marketing Rice Street /Highway 36 /Viking Drive Site (For -Sale sign in place) 9 Determine whether or not to use Video Surveillance for Crime Prevention (Was to be through Ramsey County Sheriff's Department — net yet available) • Public Works Garage Project (Ready for occupancy by Fall of 2014) 9 Shared Multi - Family Housing Patrol Position (Vadnais Heights not ready) • Funding for Rice Street /694 Bridge Project (On -going — working with Ramsey County and MN DOT) • Seek Assisted Living Project (Presbyterian Homes as first priority) • Complete Pedestrian /Bike Trail System • Continue to Find a Hotel /Motel Project for Little Canada (Desired site not available) • Focus on Redevelopment (long -term) • Purchase remaining Round Lake Properties (not yet available) • Complete Country Drive Redevelopment (Relative to hotel option and key parcel not available) • Evaluate "Spot- Zoned" Properties, i.e. Norm's, Bring's, Arcade Electric, etc. •3 Northeast Residential Redevelopment Project • Evaluate Traffic Safety Improvements 2013 Goals — • Conduct Financial Scenario Planning — "What ifs ?" • Remodel City Center • Increase Community Involvement — Diversity • Re- evaluate Commission Appointment process & Develop By -Laws • Develop Plan for Owasso/Woodlynn Redevelopment Area • Business Retention - Expansion Program • Update City Web Site • Develop Policy regarding Burying of Power Lines 2 1
