MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
CITY COUNCIL
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
DECEMBER 7, 2006
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of Che City
Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 7°i day of
December, 2006 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at
515 Little Canada Road in said City.
Mayor Bil] Blesener called Che meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. and the
following members of the City Council were present at roll call:
CITY COUNCIL:
Mayor
Council Member
Council Member
Mr. Bill Blesener
Mr. John Keis
Mr. Rick Montour
ABSENT:
ALSO PRESENT:
Council Member
City Administrator
City Clerk
Ms. Barb Allan
Mr. Joel R. Hanson
Ms. Kathy Glanzer
VIKING The City Administrator reported that as part of the proposed re-alignment
DRIVE of Viking Drive, the City Engineer is proposing curve design that would
RE-ALIGNMENT meet a design speed of 25 miles per hour. Given that this is a Municipal
State Aid road and this design speed does not meet minimum State Aid
standards, a variance is required from the State's geometric design
standards. The City Administrator noted that if the State's standards were
met, a full taking of the property at 85 Viking Drive and a partial taking of
78 Minnesota Avenue would be required creating a hardship for adjacent
property owners.
Mr. Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO.2006-I2-287 - REQUESTING A VARIANCE FOR
VIKING DRIVE FROM MINNESOTA RULES 8820.9936
GEOMETRIC DESIGN STANDARDS, URBAN; NEW OR
RECONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour.
Ayes (3).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
