J3fluCO shoe stores
May 6, 1987
CIT7 OF LITTLE cAN7.,DA
PLANNING COMXTSSTON
AND
COUNCIL MEMBERS
Connco Shoes has some surplus sbace in the building
that they occupy on Country Drive in Little Canada. We
have a prospective retail tenant that will occupy the space,
but must have interstate visibility for a sign to identify
their business.
Your current zoning allows for a second pylon sign to
be erected at this location for the use of another tenant.
The problem comes from a height restriction of 24 feet that,
due to topographical reasons, would not be visible from Ei6.94
and therefore, defeats the whole purpose of a pylon sign.
We are proposing a variance to allow the ,second pylon
sign on the property to be as high as the existing Connco
pylon sign (40 feet). The enclosed information shows the
various property elevations for the Connco parking lot,
current Connco pylon sign, Interstate roadway and the grass
berm along the interstate. It is our feeling that having
the second pylon cons-istent with the existing Connco pylon
in height would give the signage adequate readability as well
as fit the best proportionately and cosmetically with the
site.
Weyill be present at your Planning Commission and Council
Meetings to address any questions or comments that you may
have.
Sincerely,
6.
