ASSO(IAT-ES TAU( IIOAIA Memo TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Lee Elfering, City Engineer DATE: May 9, 2013 RE: 2013 Street & Utility Improvements Project Recommendation for Award Bids were received for the above referenced project and reported to the City Council at the April 24th meeting. The assessment hearing for the Spruce Street portion of the project had not been held at that time so no recommendation for award was provided. A summary of the (7) bidders and their respective bids is again provided below. Weidema $1,327,871.84 $14,462.40 $1,342,334.24 Northdale Construction $1,348,812.19 $15,028.53 $1,363,840.72 Kuechle Underground $1,441,987.56 $27,413.00 $1,469,400.56 Since the bid opening we have received word from Laphem Hickey Steel that they are not interested in selling any of their property for right -of -way to allow the intersection modification that was proposed as an alternate to the bid. As such we would recommend that the City Council not award the Alternate. Assuming no issues come up at the assessment hearing we will likely be recommending award of the base bid to Frattalone Companies as the responsive and responsible low bidder. I will be in attendance at the public hearing and the special meeting following the hearing.
