Valento <br />District 49A <br />Anoka - Ramsey Counties <br />Committees: <br />General Legislation and Veterans <br />Affairs <br />Local and Urban Affairs <br />Taxes <br />M E M O <br />TO: City Councils and Town <br />Boards of Dist. 49A <br />County Boards of Ramsey <br />and Anoka <br />School Boards of Ro eville, <br />White Bear Lake orest <br />Lake and Cer(tze 1 <br />FROM: Don Valento <br />DJV /mm <br />It has long been concern of mine that we have far too <br />many regulations at the state and federal level and do <br />not allow enough discretion to be exercised by the more <br />local units of government. <br />It appears that it may become politically possible in the <br />not too distant future to do something about returning <br />some decision - making to local units of government and <br />eliminating some of the restrictions and excessive reg- <br />ulations by the state on local government. <br />With that in mind, I would like to ask you if you would <br />identify for me any state mandates and regulations that <br />you believe do not make good common sense and do not <br />contribute to the best interests of our state as a whole. <br />I intend to compile these into a comprehensive list and <br />will try to develop a systematic approach to the elimination <br />of as many as possible in the upcoming session. <br />Minnesota <br />House of <br />Representatives <br />Rodney N.
