August 10, 1981
Ramsey County
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
3377 North Rice Street
Saint Paul, Minnesota 55112
(612) 484 -9104
Mr. George Gotwald
Carley Engineering Company
500 West Highway 96
Shoreview, Minnesota 55112
Demont Avenue and Rice Street Developments
Divisions of:
Engineering
Maintenance
Mobile Equipment
Environmental Services
Enclosed is a drainage study with our requirements for the proposed
developments at Demont Avenue and Rice Street.
In addition to the culvert sizes and ditch improvements, we recommend
the property owners provide adequate erosion control to prevent sedi-
mentation onto Demont Avenue. Ultimately, both sides of Demont Avenue
should be included in a storm sewer project to eliminate existing
problems.
The reconstruction of Demont Avenue as tentatively proposed in 1986
will not be scheduled without extensive city participation in construc-
tion costs and interim development upstream will continue to overload
the existing ditch and culvert system.
Also, according to our calculations the 17" x 13" Arch CMP under the
proposed new Park Avenue connection to Demont Avenue should be upgraded
to a minimum 24" or equivalent for adequate drainage.
Please contact our maintenance office should any further clarification
be necessary or questions arise regarding this work.
Marvin D. Kotilinek, P.E.
Maintenance Engineer
MDK/clm
Enclosure
cc: KEW DGS PK
0 0
