TO:
Joe Chlebeck
;
EXPRESS - NOTE
1rSUBJECT:
Health Inspection
DATE:
June A4 / 81
FOLD HERE
'[ tS L s,
On June 24, 1981 I inspected Pool Side located at 121 E. Co. Rd. C. with
Mr. Kevin Faus from the PCA. He is with the Spills Department of Pollution
Control. We talked to Mr. Lou Anderson, owner of the business, and another employee
who cleaned pools for Mr. Anderson.
Two tanks are located on their premises. One contained Clorine, and the other
contained Muriatic Acid which is used to clean pools. Muriatic Acid is a solution
derived from Hydrachloric Acid. This acid tanK had fumes coming from the top. The
fumes, we were told by Mr. Anderson, get worse as the temperature is lowered. On
cold winter days the fumes are worse. Mr. Faus told Mr. Anderson that he would have
to have a permit for this tank, and that he would have to dike the area around the
tank. Mr. Faus is going to inform the permit people at PCA of this. They will inves-
tigate the tank again at this time.
The tank capacity is 1500 gals. Mr. Anderson said he usually stores 500 gals.
Pool filter systems are cleaned on the premises with Muriatic Acid. Run -off
from this goes directly into the ground.
FROM:
Tom Horwath
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
JOSEPH G.
