We do all maintenance such
as lining, garbage,etc.)
Bev,
We do have a written contract with St. Johns for the school ground
use, as we do with the Day Care Center. We also have a contract with the
St. Paul Water Works, but they get no use themselves from our rink facilities.
All of the above is just for your information. Getting to the point at
hand, the Park is not just for our citizens use. Everyone in District 623
can (and some do) use it. The school district has made us put up signs
stating "District 623" at the park and other school district property that
we have used. In view of the fact that we have spent $246,000.00 on
property that the school district owns and uses, I feel that we should not
permanently defer any of the assessment to Kellogg property for this reason.
As far as school use (Little Canada, Capital View, & Kellogg) all other
cities in District 623 make use of them also, and I don't think they waive
their assessments, in those cities. I feel if we waive theirs, we might
get asked to do the same for St. Johns, St. Paul Water, and who knows
who else. What about County property in Little Canada? Sounds like trouble
to me. Maybe, we should get a 99 year lease on the Park for this assessment,
or something like that.
Jim Morelan
