( attorny to comment -read ordinance) <br />intorduced the following ordinance and moved its adoption. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 180 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 205.140(F) <br />OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA, <br />WHICH PROVIDES A REDUCED SEWER CHARGE FOR SENIOR OR DISABLED CITIZENS <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE CANADA HEREBY ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. <br />Section 205.140(F) of the Municipal Code of the City of <br />Little Canada is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"(F) Exceptions to the annual sewer rates set forth above <br />shall apply to Senior Citizens and Disabled Citizens who other- <br />wise would be subject to sewer use charges. Any such Senior <br />Citizen or Disabled Citizen, as hereinafter defined, shall become <br />eligible for a reduced rate of fifty (50%) percent of the annual <br />sewer rate by signing an affidavit affirming that he or she is <br />owner and head of the household at his or her address and is <br />receiving Retirement Survivors Insurance or Disability Insurance <br />under the Social Security Act. Affidavits for this purpose shall <br />be provided by the City Clerk and shall be signed in his presence <br />or witnessed and acknowledged by a Notary Public. For the purpose <br />of this sub - section a Senior Citizen shall be a person sixty -two <br />years of age or older, the owner and head of a household and en- <br />titled to benefits under the Social Security Act. A disabled <br />person is defined as one who is sufficiently disabled as to <br />qualify for Disability Insurance benefits under the Social Security <br />Act and is'also the owner and head of his or her household. The <br />reduced rate established by this Ordinance shall be subject to <br />change by resolution of the City Council." <br />Section 2. <br />This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and <br />after its passage and publication. <br />The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by <br />Ayes Nayes <br />17.
