PAUL, MINNESOTA 55102 <br />TO: Little Canada City Council <br />FROM: Sweeney, O'Connor & LeMay, Professional Association <br />SUBJECT: Retainer Agreement (Civil and Criminal) <br />This Agreement outlines the basic scope of services, fee <br />schedule, and other elements which will serve, if approved, as <br />an Agreement between the City of Little Canada, referred to as <br />the "City ", and Sweeney, O'Connor & LeMay, Professional Associa- <br />tion, referred to as "Attorneys ". <br />The Attorneys agree that during this Agreement, they will act <br />as legal counsel for the City, providing legal services, and the <br />City hereby engages the Attorneys as its legal counsel pursuant to <br />the terms set forth herein. <br />(a) Civil legal services covered by retainer. <br />The services included in the retainer are attorney's reports, <br />agenda reports, nonappellate research, ordinance drafting, <br />review of customary contracts and leases, consultations with <br />the administrative staff, City Council, and other City employees, <br />legal opinions, attendance at two Council meetings per month, <br />and the ordinary and usual day to day City legal work. For <br />these services the Attorneys shall be paid a retainer fee of <br />$725.00 per month. <br />(b) Criminal legal services covered by retainer. <br />These retainer services include preparation for and attendance <br />at arraignments, court trials, pre- trials, jury trials, and <br />all other legal work that is necessary relative to the pro- <br />cessing and concluding the prosecution of misdemeanor offenses <br />committed within the geographic limits of the City. For <br />these services the Attorneys shall be paid a retainer fee of <br />$1,175.00 per month.‘ This retainer fee does not include <br />legal services relative to appellate criminal work. <br />01 <br />
