Analysis of current procedures, staff, and problems
During this phase we will examine each functional unit
within the city of Little Canada through interviews with
the staff and council. We will identify those areas
which can be rendered more efficient and /or cost effective
through automation.
_. Definition of requirements
We will work with the staff to develop a list of functions
which should be automated. This list will be compiled from
staff interviews and will be approved by the City Clerk and
whomever he designates. If no applications have been
identified, the study will be terminated at this point.
Identification and evaluation of alternatives
During this step we will investigate the alternatives for
automating the requirements identified in step 2. The
alternatives will be
Hardware:
Purchase (Type and configuration alternatives)
Lease
Service Bureau / Timesharing
Software:
Public Domain Software Acquisition
Software Package Purchase
Contract for Software Development
4. Cost / Benefit Analysis
We will assist the staff in determining the benefits to be
derived in the automation of the identified functions and
make cost projections for a five (5) year period on the final
alternatives. The projections will include:
Hardware acquisition
Software acquisition and /or development
On -going costs
Hardware maintenance / upgrade
Software maintenance / enhancements
Staffing requirements
