Mr. Joseph G. Chlebeck
September 14, 1983
Page Two
1983. This figure computed on the annual basis would indicate a
proposed 1984 budget for this item of $3,450.00.
Legal services which we categorize as special projects have
totaled $6,606.00 for the seven month period through July, 1983.
I have made no effort to determine what portion of this amount is
paid directly by developers. However, this figure computed on an
annual basis would indicate a proposed 1984 budget for this item
of $11,000.00.
The legal services rendered relative to civil litigation for
the same seven month period totals $1,071.00. The projection of
this amount on a twelve month basis results in a proposed 1984
budget amount of $2,000.00.
Our proposed 1984 legal budget would be the total of the
following figures: $950.00 civil retainer times twelve equals
$11,400.00; $1,550.00 misdemeanor criminal retainer times twelve
equals $18,600.00; gross misdemeanor prosecution, $3,450.00;
special projects, $11,000.00; and civil litigation, $2,000.00.
The total proposed 1984 budget is $46,450.00.
I must emphasize the fact that the proposed budget is our
best estimate of anticipated legal expenditures in 1984, based on
our 1983 time records and experience. However, 1984 expenditures
will be based on services actually rendered and billed in 1984.
Unfortunately, a more precise estimate is not available.
If anyone bas any questions relative to this matter, please
contact me. I plan to be at the budget meeting of September 28,
1983, to answer any questions that might arise.
Yours very truly,
SWEENEY, O'CONNOR & LeMAY
4homas M.
