CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
Office of:
JOSEPH G. CHLEBECK, Clerk
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minn. 55117
484 -2177
August 3, 1983
TO: City Council
RE: Signs
MAYOR
Raymond Hanson
COUNCIL
Michael Fahey
Beverly Scalze
Dennis Forsberg
Mugs Nardini
I sent a letter to the business people informing them that the temporary
signs shall be removed by August 1, 1983.
On August 3, 1983, I started to enforce the ordinance by visiting the
business people to talk about their progress on the removal of their
signs. Some stated that if they cannot have the signs showing their
specials, they would have to close shop and be out of business. One place
has already gone out of business because of the restriction on advertising
signs.
I don't know what the answer is, but if the business's of Little Canada need
their signs to exist, maybe a special meeting, inviting all the business
people to give their input, could be arranged. From hearing the people
say "What's good for Roseville (or any other city) is not necessarily good
for Little Canada ", maybe, a possible solution to this problem, would to
be to let the business people form a committee, and write their own sign
ordinance.
EEL:gb
Ed Locke
Code Enforcement Officer
is
