NORTHWEST ASSOCIATED CONSULTANTS INC.
MEMORANDUM
TO: Little Canada Planning Commission
FROM: David Licht
DATE: 3 May 1983
RE: Little Canada Zoning Ordinance Revision - Shorelands
FILE NO: 758.09
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has responded to the City's
request for the reconsideration of lake classifications in the community.
They concur with the City that the majority of lakes should be designated
General Development which is the least restrictive classification having a
50 foot setback from the high water mark. The only exception in the proposed
redesignation is Twin Lake. DNR's position is that this water body should be
classified as Recreational Development. This classification carries a 75
foot setback from the high water mark.
We have attached a copy of the ordinance material previously drafted by our
office which has been previously reviewed. We have modified the lake
classifications as suggested by the DNR.
This material should be thoroughly discussed at the meeting so that it hopefully
can be passed on to the City Council.
Prior to the meeting, should you have questions concerning this matter, please
contact our office accordingly.
cc:
Joe Chleheck
Don Carley
Tom Sweeney
Ed Locke
4820 mrnnetonka boulevard, suite 420 minneapolis, mn 5b41b bl
