FEASIBILITY REPORT
IMPROVEMENT 884
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
LOCATION:
NATURE OF IMPROVEMENT:
INITIATION:
RIGHT OF WAY:
EASEMENTS:
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
FEASIBILITY:
FINANCING:
Ryan Drive from Spruce Street to
Country Drive
Bituminous Overlay and Shoulders
Petition
R.O.W. is existing
None required
This road is built over an abandoned
railroad which was moved north because
of unstable soil. We have found peat
40 feet deep in the general area. We
also know of buried railroad ties about
eight feet deep.
We explored the possibility of excavating
the poor soil down to stable soil which
is the accepted solution in road building.
This was rejected about five years ago
as not being cost effective. Instead,
a simple overlay was constructed.
The proposal for this improvement is to
grind the existing pavement as smooth as
possible and construct an overlay. This
would require about 600 tons of bituminous
and about 250 tons of aggregate shoulders.
Because of the time of the year, we would
recommend that the aggregate be ordered
immediately and that it be bladed into
shape by the County to cover the rough
section. The County could then provide
snow plowing. The bituminous would be
done in 1989.
This project is feasible.
Construction
Contingency
Legal
Fiscal
Administration
Engineering
Page 36
TOTAL
Capital interest
GRAND TOTAL
$20,500.00
2,050.00
1,230.00
1,230.00
410.00
3,690.00
$29,110.00
2,911.00
$32,021.00
