c crvt ?>er <br />All winners in telephone tower dispute <br />To the Editor: <br />The city of St. Louis Park, <br />Minnesota Cellular One, and <br />Tom Peterson have been <br />trading blows at city hall for the <br />last 41/2 months. <br />When the dust settled and Don <br />King walked into the ring, after <br />the fight, he raised the hands of <br />all three. <br />There were only winners. The <br />city of St. Louis Park rents out <br />its water tower for $300 a month <br />from now to eternity. Mr. <br />Cellular One saved the cost of <br />$100,000, tower, and me and my <br />Eliot View neighbors don't have <br />to look at a industrial sculpture <br />called radio transmission tower <br />16 stories in height. <br />If the neighbors are brought in <br />on the ground floor of discus- <br />sions that effect the quality of <br />life, then problems will not be <br />problems, and open minds will <br />only have to negotiate and com- <br />promise rather than closed <br />minds and lawsuits meeting in <br />an expensive legal battleground: - <br />I hope in the future there will <br />n <br />Page 24 <br />be industrial and developlental <br />guidelines, compassion, and <br />understanding at the beginning <br />of the process, so the process. <br />will only take weeks instead of <br />months, and the neighborhood <br />having 50 percent of the votes. <br />Neighbors have to take con- <br />trol over their quality of life in <br />their neighborhood. <br />Thank you for your help Eliot <br />neighbors. <br />Tom Peterson, <br />St. Louis Park <br />
