Office of:
JOSEPH G. CHLEBECK, Clerk
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minn. 55117
484-2177
CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: John Palacio, Building Official
DATE: July 13, 1988
RE: Signs Located at 2940 Rice Street
Mr. Tom Short has applied for a sign permit located at 2940
Rice Street. The pylon signs would display advertisements
for the Little Canada Bingo Hall, with additional signs to
include Allstate, Lady Gold Finger and one two -by -five sign
not identified.
The property has had three signs. One sign advertised boat
storage. The second sign advertised Pepsi and Little
Canada Bingo and the time of bingo sessions. The third
sign advertised Grabel Van Lines.
The City Ordinance 903.110, Signs, has established
standards of which set forth regulations for the type of
sign, the number, size, structure, location, height,
lighting, erection, use and /or display. City Ordinance
903.110(b)(2) has addressed prohibited signs from a thru
g. City Ordinance 903.110(5)(a) has addressed the total
number of signs that could be allowed for advertisement.
Also included in the third paragraph, I quote: "In
addition to wall signs, free standing signs may be utilized
or a combination of both. In no case, however, shall more
than one pylon sign or combination of two signs be
displayed." However, the City Ordinance will allow a
Conditional Use Permit if indeed there could be an
established hardship.
My recommendations are: the applicants for the signs in
question may apply for a conditional use permit or rectify
any non - conforming use of the signs.
JP:bj
PAGE -1-
e
MAYOR
Michael Fahey
COUNCIL.
Beverly Scalze
Bill Blesener
Rick Collova
Jim LaValle
